Timber-At-Home: How to make homemade lemonade
Timber Cafe Housemade Lemonade
There’s something special about a glass of homemade lemonade.
Not the bright overly sweet soft drink from the supermarket pretending to be lemonade. We’re talking about real lemonade made with fresh lemons, a little sugar, and sparkling water.
At Timber, we’ve always believed that good food and drinks should feel like home. Since the very beginning (which somehow feels like both yesterday and a lifetime ago), our mission has been to make as much as possible in-house. Every recipe we create is designed to bring comfort, nostalgia, and genuine flavour to your table.
Why We Make Our Lemonade From Scratch
Many commercial lemonades contain preservatives, flavourings, concentrates, and a long list of ingredients that can distract from what lemonade is meant to be.
We wanted to strip it back to the essentials:
Fresh lemons
Sugar
Sparkling water
That's it.
The result is a refreshing homemade lemonade that actually tastes like lemons. Bright, citrusy, lightly sweet, and incredibly refreshing. If you've visited Timber before, you've probably noticed that our lemonade doesn't taste like soft drink. It tastes like the real thing.
A Taste of Summer Nostalgia
One sip of our housemade lemonade instantly transports us back to childhood summers.
Long days spent riding bikes around the neighbourhood. Shooting hoops until the sun went down. Climbing trees and coming home covered in dirt and grass stains.
Then walking through the front door, hot and thirsty, to find a cold glass of homemade lemonade waiting in the fridge.
Maybe it was your mum's recipe.
Maybe it was the lemonade stand you set up on the front lawn, proudly selling cups for a few silver coins.
Whatever your memory looks like, homemade lemonade has a way of bringing it all back.
That's exactly the feeling we wanted to capture when creating Timber's Housemade Lemonade.
Timber At Home Series: Housemade Lemonade Recipe
Want to recreate a little piece of Timber in your own kitchen? Here's our simple homemade lemonade recipe.
Ingredients
Serves: 6
3 fresh lemons
100g caster sugar
50ml water
2 litres sparkling carbonated water
How to Make Homemade Lemonade
Step 1: Prepare the Lemons
Prep the lemons
Zest all 3 lemons into a clean bowl.
Cut the lemons in half.
Juice the lemons into the same bowl as the zest.
Combining the fresh juice and zest creates a deeper citrus flavour that gives this lemonade its signature freshness.
Step 2: Make the Lemon Syrup
Make lemonade syrup
Place the lemon juice, lemon zest, caster sugar, and water into a saucepan.
Heat over medium heat.
Bring to a gentle boil and cook for 4–5 minutes.
Strain the mixture into a clean bowl.
Discard the zest.
You now have a fragrant homemade lemon syrup that forms the base of the lemonade.
Step 3: Mix the Lemonade
Because every lemon is slightly different, the amount of syrup you produce may vary depending on the size of your lemons and your juicing technique.
For the best balance of sweetness and citrus, we recommend:
100ml lemon syrup : 500ml sparkling water
Mix well and adjust to taste if needed.
How to Serve Housemade Lemonade
For the full Timber experience, serve your lemonade:
Over plenty of ice
Garnished with fresh mint
Finished with a dried lemon wheel
The combination of fresh citrus, sparkling bubbles, and aromatic mint creates the perfect summer drink for entertaining guests, family barbecues, or simply relaxing in the backyard.
How Long Does Homemade Lemonade Last?
Store your lemon syrup or prepared lemonade in an airtight jug or container in the refrigerator.
When properly stored, it will stay fresh for up to 4 weeks.
This makes it parties, lunches, gatherings, or having a refreshing drink ready whenever you need it.
The Beauty of Simple Ingredients
The best recipes are often the simplest.
Three ingredients. No shortcuts. No artificial flavours. Just fresh lemons, sugar, and sparkling water working together exactly as they should.
That's the Timber philosophy.
Whether you're recreating this recipe at home or enjoying a glass in our café, we hope it reminds you of those carefree summer days when life felt a little slower and a cold glass of lemonade could fix just about anything.
If you're looking for lemonade that tastes real, refreshingly citrusy, and packed with nostalgia, welcome to the Timber At Home Series.
